These have marketing authorisations, meaning a regulator examined evidence on quality, safety and efficacy. All are prescription only. A licence is not a recommendation for any individual.
Semaglutide
GLP-1 receptor agonist
A licensed prescription medicine, and one of the two GLP-1 drugs most people are actually talking about.

Tirzepatide
Dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist
The other licensed drug in this space, and the first approved anywhere to act on two hormone receptors at once.

Liraglutide
GLP-1 receptor agonist
The first GLP-1 drug most UK patients encountered. Daily rather than weekly, and now largely superseded.

Dulaglutide
GLP-1 receptor agonist
Widely prescribed on the NHS for type 2 diabetes. Not licensed for weight loss.

Exenatide
GLP-1 receptor agonist
The first GLP-1 drug, and the reason the whole class exists. Derived from lizard venom.

Not assessed for human use
No marketing authorisation in the UK. Some are still in trials, some are sold as research chemicals, and one is a controlled drug. Supplying any of them for human use without authorisation is prohibited.
Somatropin
Recombinant human growth hormone
A licensed medicine for defined conditions, and a controlled drug. Widely misused outside both.

Orforglipron
Non-peptide GLP-1 receptor agonist
A GLP-1 pill that is not a peptide. Approved in the US, still under review here.

Retatrutide
Triple receptor agonist
Still in trials. Widely sold on the grey market, which is illegal and unverifiable.

CagriSema
Amylin analogue plus GLP-1 receptor agonist
Combines a GLP-1 drug with a copy of a second appetite hormone. Not approved anywhere yet.

Cagrilintide
Long-acting amylin analogue
The second appetite hormone. Best known as half of CagriSema, now sold on its own.

Survodutide
Dual GLP-1 and glucagon receptor agonist
The third big multi-agonist in late-stage trials, and the one nobody talks about.

Mazdutide

Approved in China, nowhere else. The first dual glucagon and GLP-1 drug to reach a market.

GHRH analogue
A licensed medicine, but for one narrow condition and not in the UK. Sold well outside both.

The longevity peptide. Telomere claims, one research group, and a specific cancer question.
Evidence: Cohort studies from one research group. No modern controlled trials.
Emideltide
Delta sleep-inducing peptide
Sold for sleep. The only compound the FDA's July 2026 panel voted down.

CJC-1295
GHRH analogue
Sold to raise your own growth hormone. Almost always paired with ipamorelin, and prohibited in all sport.

Hexarelin

An older growth hormone peptide. Raises cortisol, and stops working the more you use it.

The one on the vendor shelf with the most serious risks, and the least honest marketing.

Activin receptor fusion protein
Myostatin blocking. Human trials were stopped early because of bleeding and blood vessel problems.
